this is a very simple dish that embodies the very essence of the Filipino culture. It’s earthy flavors are basic but exploding with flavor, this is a favorite of mine on a rainy day.
  • 1lb (500g) ground pork
  • 1/2 lb (250g) green peas (frozen)
  • 1/2 lb (250g) potatoes, cubed
  • 1/2 lb (250g) fresh tomatoes, steamed 2 min then pealed and finely chopped
  • 2 carrots finely chopped
  • 2 medium onions finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • juice of one lime (10 calamansi)
  • cooking oil
  • salt & ground pepper
  1. saute garlic and onions in a frying pan until fragrant
  2. add in the ground pork and saute until slightly brown
  3. mix in the chopped tomatoes & let simmer for about a min
  4. add the peas and potatoes and cook about 5 min
  5. season with salt & Pepper (to taste)
  6. mix in the lime or calamansi juice and simmer for 3 min
  7. serve with rice
  8. garnish with calamansi or lime wedges

Almost all Filipino food is served next to rice, it goes without saying that if you are eating Asian food of any kind there is most likely going to be rice on the side.
